Apache ActiveMQ Artemis Resource-Consumption Advisory

Affected Artemis core-client dependencies need a runtime upgrade.

The hook

Artemis can enter an application through a full broker distribution, an embedded broker, a Java messaging client, an application server, or an integration-test service. A vulnerable dependency is actionable patch evidence, but it does not by itself show that an affected runtime is deployed or reachable by an attacker.

How it works

The advisory concerns defensive bounds around protocol-data parsing and memory allocation. FixVibe scopes the repo result to the exact Maven coordinate named by the reviewed advisory and distinguishes exact affected releases from supported dependency ranges that can resolve to one.

The blast radius

If an affected runtime processes the relevant attacker-controlled protocol data, uncontrolled memory consumption can partially disrupt availability. The practical risk depends on the deployed Artemis role and version, endpoint reachability, peer trust, resource controls, and any vendor backport.

What FixVibe checks

FixVibe repo scans look for high-confidence security patterns and dependency risk in source context. Reports identify the affected area and recommended fix. For check-specific questions about exact detection heuristics, active payload details, or source-code rule patterns, contact support@fixvibe.app.

Ironclad defenses

Upgrade the active dependency and runtime to 2.19.1 on the Java 8 maintenance line, or 2.20.0 or a currently supported later release. Align Artemis BOMs and related modules, rebuild every broker/client artifact and image that includes the dependency, verify the deployed runtime graph, and keep protocol endpoints restricted to trusted authenticated peers during rollout.

FixVibe pressure-tests the public surface of your app the way an attacker would β€” no agent, no install, no card. We keep researching new vulnerability patterns and turn them into practical checks and paste-ready fixes for Cursor, Claude, and Copilot.
